A mourner kneels at ground zero Wednesday,

September 11,2002, in New York, during cer­

emonies marking the one-year anniversary of

the September 11 attacks. Although mourn­

ers contemplated the loss of loved ones and

coworkers and honored them in ceremonies,

a spirit of triumph spreads across America as

its people draw strength from one another and

from the words of President Bush.
