While the girls relax, Ben
Crane finds himself pushing the
girls around a miniature golf
course. Mel said, “It’s a tough
thing being a guy on an en
semble; not only are they out
numbered, but outsmarted as
well. Obviously, he didn’t read
the fine print in his contract!”
Excerpt from
Melonee Dore's
journal: "I was
abruplty awak
ened by the agi
tated voice of
Dr. Youstra say
ing, 'We're out of
gas!' Within a
matter of min
utes, Doc was on the phone with
AAA. The problem was that he didn't
figure out where we were before he
called, so he asked us and no one
knew anything except that we were
on interstate 14-1 think. They said
they would 'try' to find us. Through
out the course of this tension caus
ing event, Megan seemed distraught.
Her distress was rooted in her dire
need to use the facilities. So Ben,
Megan, and I began to walk to a
house we had seen to ask if Meg
could use their restroom. A sign by
the house BEWARE OF DOGS, so we
took heed and kept walking. We
were unsure of where we were, but
then we saw it! A sign! It said, EXIT
34--7 MILES. We had just turned to
go let Doc know where we were
when a red truck pulled up beside
us. They offered us a ride to the gas
station. We rode with them to the
van to ask Doc if it would be okay.
He said yes. Ben got out, Amanda
got in, and the three of us, adven
ture seeking girls shoved into the
truck with two strangers. We were
talking to this couple and I was try
ing to think of a way to witness.
When the lady mentioned that she
was from Tennessee, 1 said my mom
went to a Christian college there.
The wife then asked if we were from
a Christian college. That opened the
door for us to talk. We found out
that they were bom again. They were
excited to hear we were Christians.

outside of Julie’s relatives’ house with them. They gave us $20 for
during a July 4th party. “Visiting gas and we said 'Thank you.' They
my aunt Toni and uncle Jim in said 'God bless' and then they were
gone. Angels unawares."
Michigan encouraged them both
so much,” Julie said. “I am
thankful that God allowed us to
