The college choir sings “Holy
Trinity: A Cantata of Praise to
the Trinity.” It was written and di
rected by R. Joy Fisher. Dedi
cated to her husband Philip and
in memory of Albert C. Rule, the
performance was a glorious be
ginning for the new major.

Fisher. She will
be graduating
with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Composition.
Prior to the creation of her current
major, she was studying voice but
said she "saw a lot more value in
being able to write music." Directed
by Dr. Ralston, she said that he "does
a good job. He encourages my origi
nality and really appreciates what
ever is different in my composing.
His theory classes have really helped
a lot." She continued, "I've enjoyed
the fact that music is an outlet for
creativity unlike any other major. In
it you learn about all the creativity
that the Lord has given us. I love
music, and I really appreciate it when
1 can see the joy on people's faces
that music brings when they sing.
That inspires me to keep going." She
also enjoyed working with Joy very
much. "Joy is my sister-in-law, which
has been fun. It's wonderful to prac
tice together and encourage each
other. We've worked together rear
ranging hymns for years." Asforthe
recital, Sarah said, "I feel very privi
leged to be one of the first Compo
sition Majors the school produces. I
hope Dr. Ralston is very happy with
the results."
Opening his recital with “La
Serenata" by Francesco Alfredo
Tosti, Richard Joseph performs
for his junior voice recital. He is
looking forward to continuing his
singing as he anticipates attend
ing graduate school to study
voice performance.
