CAFETERIA — MOMENTS
IN TIME
"I want a hamburger!" "More Fries, Please!" "I need a salad, I'm on a diet!"
"How much for Eight Pretzels, two ice creams, five cookies . . . " "Could I pay
with a subway token?" . . .
Our cafeteria staff somehow smiles through it all and remains cheerful.
Some of the staff are bustling around as early as 6:30 A.M., brewing faculty
coffee, making hundreds of bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches, setting out
orange juice and hot chocolate. Around 7:50 A.M. a wave of teachers and
hungry students are clamoring for breakfast. Homeroom lets up the pressure a
bit, but Seniors free first period are another wave of requests. There seems to
be a small lull, but not really! Behind the scenes more than a dozen dedicated
ladies are busy preparing lunch. Feeding nearly 1600 people is a huge, com
plicated task. Good, nutritious food must be prepared, and waste avoided. So
careful planning goes into the menu and actual making of the lunches. (And
oh those snowy days!!! Want to know if an early dismissal is in the air? Ask a
cafeteria lady! She'll have the inside scoop. Did they start making lunches
* yet????)
This years 'Horizons' salutes and thanks our Cafeteria Staff for reliable,
efficient friendly service with a smile! Keep up the good work!
