         The Marching







         and Concert Bands

                                                                           The marching band's show featured music from "Chess."
                                                                         The  band  received  an  excellent  rating  in  Columbus  and  a
                                                                         superior in the Omaha Marching Invite.  They also received
                                                                         an  excellent  rating  in  Plattsmouth  and  the  Nebraska  State
                                                                         Marching Invitational.  The appointed drum major was Jes­
                                                                         sica Burns.  Tena Neill said, "I think the show was one of the
                                                                         most difficult I have been in since I have been in band.  The
                                                                         drill was difficult, and the tempo was extremely fast paced."
                                                                         "The best time for me in band was after the marching com­
                                                                         petitions when we would  all sit in a group and cheer before
                                                                         the awards; it was great for everybody,"  said Adam Belt.
                                                                           The concert band had two different concerts.  The district
                                                                         program  included  the  songs  "Celebration  for  a  New  Era"
                                                                         and "Clair de Lune" which received a "tw o" for the first time
                                                                         in the history of Ralston concert band.  The concert program
                                                                         consisted of the songs "God of Our Fathers,"  "Chance Long
                                                                         Forgotten," and many more.  "The concert season was pretty
                                                                         good.  Receiving  a  two  at  District  was  really  exciting  and
                                                                         made  me  proud  to  be  in  the  band,"  said  Tena  Neill  about
                                                                         this year's season.
