score once again! The RafflW^wmuty Basketball Girls have
broughtT fffiw h^^'S^es. but never gave up once. Here to give us more
details about what goes around Coach Olivia Walker and Senior Lauren
Team Player. Junior Rebecca Madden, is Shymkewicz. Coach Walker explains as to why she chose to coach girls
trying to pass to her team mates with the
basketball, “I love the sport of basketball and I played for a long time. I met
offense in tow.
some of the girls in the offseason and they were very welcoming and
seemed like a great group, This made coaching an easy decision.” “I joined
the basketball team because I have been playing basketball since I was in
third grade and it's my favorite sport.” Lauren explains why she joined the
basketball team.
“I think this was a very good season for Ralston Girls basketball. I think the
girls enjoyed their successes and the things they accomplished this season."
Coach tell us. “I feel this season was definitely an improvement from years
past. We won more games this season than any other season in my high
school career and we were much more competitive.”Senior Lauren said.
Coach Walker tells us if it was easy or hard to coach the team and she
answered “I think various aspects of the job are easy, and other aspects are
difficult. Preparing for teams and executing those plans can be difficult, but
celebrating after a win is easy and a lot of fun!”
“Personally, I think our first district game against Omaha Gross Catholic
was our best basketball game. I think our girls worked hard and made the
plays they needed to. A game like that are intense, emotion driven, and a lot
of pressure for the players, but they are also a ton of fun to watch and be a
part of!” she adds. Senior Lauren tells us about the changes this year, “This
year we got a whole new coaching staff and adjusting to the change and
their expectations of us was definitely a challenge at first but I think the
change really paid off for the team and the basketball program as a whole.”
Also Coach faced some challenges “You will always be faced with
challenges when you coach a team. I think that goes for any sport. For girls
basketball this season, the arena game became a challenge because of the
emotions and feeling outside the game. This was a hard game for one of our
seniors, Jade, and for the rest of team. It was nice to see our team rally
together and be strong during such a sad time.”
