ross country drives through the season By Jaydyn Ramsey
The pressure was on they felt their hearts beating in their
chests. The gun fired and off they went through the twists and
turns of the cross country' course. They knew this was what all the
practices and hard work had led up to and they were determined
to do their best.
“Cross country is a sport that makes you tougher as a person
and takes a lot of work,” said Jade Adler, captain of the cross
country team. Cross country is a sport that involves hard workers
and requires great determination, all qualities that Ralston’s cross
country team possesses. They powered through this season and
many made it to state. Cross country is not just a physical sport
it’s also a mental sport that involves many techniques to power
through that may differ depending on the person.
“I obviously want to stop but knowing that there is an end &
having friends, family, and coaches cheer me on helps a lot,” said
Adler when asked about what helps her power through the
difficult courses. And not only does it require mental toughness it
requires mental discipline, you must be dedicated to excel in cross
country .
“The pressure does help me do better, and cross country is a
sport where you have to care because if you don’t, then what’s the
point?” said Adler, proving that nervousness is a normal feeling
and in some cases a sign of her dedication. This cross country
season was a considerable success, with major plans for next year.
