Big improvements in Girls Golf
by Giselle Cruz
Golf season ended well for the girls as they improved in so
many aspects. Also, they got closer to each other. Close like a
family.
Sophomore Cassidy Loucks improved immensely. She won
a medal in seventh place this year. Loucks started out playing
golf with her family at a very young age. Just last year she joined
golf, and she is already becoming successful. Loucks gave great
advice to new golfers and students who plan to join next year.
She said, “My advice to someone who is new in golf is to always
stick with it. Throughout the year if you practice you will get
better and better. Also, golf is a very rewarding and fun sport.
We definitely need more girl golfers for Ralston.”
Junior and foreign exchange student Bo Van Ees just joined
golf this year. She faced lots of challenges, but little by little had
been overcoming her difficulties. At the start. Van Ees struggled
on learning the techniques for golf. However, she practiced as
much as possible to elevate her game. Van Ees said, “Golf is not
an easy sport. It looks really easy, but it is actually very hard to
play.” Last golf season has not only been difficult, there had been
success and improvements. Van Ees scored really good on a golf
attorney for the very first time. She faced challenges in golf, but
she's glad that she played golf and enjoyed playing it. Van Ees is
always up to try new things even if there are challenges.
Coach Kosch said, "Golf is a very hard and difficult sport.
It's very nice to see when we make lots of improvements and we
work really hard in every single golf season. We have to keep
doing this for the 10 months outside of the school season as well
and we'll be able to compete at much higher levels. It isn't a game
you can just play for two months and think you'll be able to
compete with the best when the next school season starts."
Mr.Kosch feels very proud of all the team's perserverance.
Matty Morris, Bo Van Ees, Geri Smieja, Cassidy Loucks,
Kelsey Bowen, Seana Byers, and Hannah Lucas represented
developed a tight friendship. “We are like a family,” Loucks said.
The girls always stick together and have each others' backs.
When one of them needs help, they support and help out one
another.
New Opportunities: Golf gives lots of opportunities to meet new
people. Pictured here is Matty Morris, M akenna Evans, Geri
Sm ieja, and Bo Van Ees. Evans does not attend Ralston High,
however, she is very good friends with the golfers. Students from
multiple schools develop close friendships through the love of the
game.
