The junior year could also be considered the beginning of the second half of a student’s
college career. Some students are starting to look for internships, and others are finding different
colleges to continue their schooling. Whatever the case may be, the juniors can always find com
fort in the thought that they are halfway done. Even though they have two more years to complete
their degree, many are using opportunities now to prepare for the future.
Ashley Madeiros said, “My major is Interdisciplinary Studies. After graduation, I am plan
ning on moving to Bermuda and working in the children’s wing of the King Edward Memorial
Elospital as one of the directors. I am graduating in December, 2007. I tutor for the YMCA read
ing program right now and that will also be part of my duties in the children’s wing.”
Tammi Kelly said, “My major is Interdisciplinary Studies with focuses in history and edu
cation. My dream job is to be a counselor working with children and teenagers or at least have
some kind of positive impact on young people’s lives. I realize how important older people are
to them and how influenced they are by their leaders. I plan on getting my Master’s in counseling
as soon as 1 graduate, then becoming a licensed counselor. Right now to prepare for dealing with
teenagers and children, I go to the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch once a week and work with the
girls there. I also am building relationships with the teenagers in the youth group that I help out
with at my church. I have no idea where God will lead me in the next few years, but I am willing
to follow and it will be exciting to see Him work in people’s lives through me.”
