Spirit!
chieving Ram spirit for the
A football season began with
the first pep rally.
Hundreds of excited faces
crowded into the bleachers. The
drum major raised her arms and
the band began to play “ Hail
Varsity". Screams and class yells
filled the field as the first pep rally
started.
Among all the thrills was the
class competition. Apples were
strung on long rubber bands, then
dipped into chocolate syrup. Guys
stood over girls with the apples
dangling from their teeth. The
object was to get the apples close
enough to the girls' mpuths so
they could take a bite. As a result
of these games the girls came out
with the bad end of everything —
chocolate covered faces, hair, and
clothes. The class of '83 took this
competition.
Getting ready for the first home
game, the flag team, drill team, and
cheerleaders decorated the
stadium with streamers, balloons,
and signs, giving Ralston a spirited
name.
The game was led off by a
touchdown by Gross which didn't
faze the Rams, who were playing
for 4,000 spectators.
Besides the excitement of the
game fans were treated to the
convenience of an additional
concession stand installed on the
visitor side.
After completing the class competition, sen
ior Pam Bauer, junior Connie Erney, sopho
more Hope Peterson, and freshman Kim Pas-
kach were covered with chocolate syrup.
Getting psyched-up for the first home game,
junior E. J. Stanek1, senior Larry Kohler, junior
Steve Hoing, and senior Bob Rolle prepares to
take on Gross.
