Going in style
/ ^^alvin Klein," Gloria
^-Vanderbilt," "Jordache,"
"Chic," and "French Star" were
just a few of the many designer
jeans worn by students during the
school year.
Also popular during the school
year was "Izod" clothing, which
could be identified by the alligator
symbol. The alligator was on all
types of clothing from socks to
belt buckles. This type of clothing
was called the "preppy" style. The
"western" style was still going
strong as many people wore their
cowboy boots with nearly any type
of clothing.
Leg warmers became popular
with the girls and topsider shoes
were popular with both boys and
girls. Knickers came back in style
in women's fashion. "Converse"
and "Nike" were popular tennis
shoes with the boys.
With the many types of clothing
worn by teenagers, one might not
have noticed the braces that many
students wore. Many students also
put away their eyeglasses and
purchased contacts. "My glasses
were always in the way," said
senior Pam Bauer. Sports
participation was another reason
many students made the switch to
contacts.
See ya later, alligator. Junior Tim Mamalyga
picks up his books on the way to his next class.
Everything old is new again. Freshman Melissa S
Quiter's knickers help revive an old style; Braces
were worn by many students like freshman Jultfi^
W ellendorf; Calvin Klein was just ort^- of the many
designer jeans students paid up to $45 for.
