Snow biz
C now the first two days in Breck-
enridge didn't discourage the
135 students on the ski trip.
To raise money for the trip, ski
club members sold candles and
items from a catalogue called "Gift
Boutique."
Ski club, sponsored by Jim
McGrath, Jan Knowles, Bob Benzel,
Ruth Hammel, Eric Torring, and Ker
ry Baldwin, was open to any student
whether he knew how to ski or not.
For people who did not know how
to ski there were lessons. For ad
vanced members, it proved to be a
time to brush up on their skiing and
to have a really good time.
"The fact that no one was injured
or ill made the trip far more enjoy
able than usual. A few people were
bothered by the altitude, but no one
was sick enough to stop skiing. Also,
there were no major disciplinary
problems on the trip. That made the
trip more pleasant for students and
sponsors alike," said Knowles.
Some of the problems that stu
dents had were getting off the ski lift
properly, getting up after falling,
walking around with sore feet, and,
of course, the sunburned faces.
Once back in school, it wasn't hard
to tell which students had gone on
the trip.
"During the last day of skiing no
body wanted to leave because of the
beauty and fun. On the other hand,
many people were anxious to see
friends and family," said junior Sue
Wilson.
Having fun seemed to be the goal of the ski
trip. Sophomores Cindy Krambeck, Jill Huff,
Kris Winters, Chris Gardner (front), junior Sue
Wilson, freshman Ann Ronnfeldt, sophomore
Kim Forman, and senior Laurie Reinhardt
(back) drink pop in wine glasses, and get out
cheese whiz to make nachos.
Snow plow is essential to stopping. Mastering
the technique are seniors Bob Rolle, Julie
Burns, Joannie Johnson, Cynde Distefano,
Steve Cullen, Mark Massaro, and John Jensen.
