as the prices of gas, clothes, and
munchies continued to climb.
Part time jobs at fast-food
restaurants such as Wendy's,
Burger King, McDonald's, and also
King's Table and Perkins provided
a needed source of cash.
Teen expenditures rose as more
students found it necessary to buy
their own clothes, automobiles and
miscellaneous items to help their
parents fend off the squeeze of
inflation.
Other popular jobs included
working in day care centers,
offices, service stations,
warehouses, amusement parks, and
anything else available.
Due to high unemployment,
students couldn't be choosy about
their place of employment, and
many felt lucky to work at all.
Children need affection. Senior Sharon
