f you thought that convocations or

students to get out of their classes, you
were wrong. People visited our school )
to provide us with a learning
experience. The scheduling of these
convocations was prepared by Martha
Novak, assistant principal.
This year’s convocations began with
the Pepsi/Bahnsen’s Sporting Goods
talk on skiing tips. The next was a
memory convocation, where students
learned how to take certain parts of a
word out to memorize them. The Army
Concert Convocation showed the
students all the variations of music and
how to play them different ways.
Guest speakers were also frequent
sights this year. They ranged anywhere
from a Mary Kay Cosmetic
demonstrator to men from the Green
Berets. Students were interested in
these speakers because it was quite a
change of pace from just having class.
“Everyone always seems to enjoy it
when speakers come and talk to us;
the teachers also seem to enjoy it,”
said senior Dawn Lamb.
Explaining the new tech ln qu es used in warfare, men from the
Green Berets answer questions asked by students.
Learning how to put on m ake-up. seniors Dawn Lamb, Carla
Palitano, Chris Sestak, and Teresa Wick all participate as the
Mary Kay demonstrator shows them how to do it.
