shopping, picking up novelties, or
running up to the small island shops
like Fotomat.
New shopping centers were built
around Ralston. Brentwood Square was
built in LaVista and provided many
different types of shops including
Richmond Gordman, Baker’s
Walgreen’s, Sports Tread, Little King’s,
and K-Mart.
A brand new shopping center was in
the process of being built on 108th and
Q. The store was expected to be the
seven largest in the U.S. and twice the
size of the Westroads. An estimated
200 stores were to occupy the center.
The Park 4 shopping center also had
a combination of many different types
of stores, such as Tober’s, Haney’s,
Park 4 Pharmacy, and grocery stores.
With all the new stores being built in
and around Ralston, students no longer
needed to drive miles to enjoy a day
of shopping.
