Ski

hat do bus rides, hijacking,
Wmunchies, and dramamine all
have in common? Well, if you were a
ski club member, you would know:
these were all part of “Ski Trip ’81”.
It all started on March 26. Three
buses pulled into the school’s parking
lot around 11:45 a.m. Seniors were
waiting to load up while freshmen
through juniors were still taking their
SRA tests.
By 1:00 p.m., the ski club was on its
way to Frisco, Colorado, to ski for two
and a half days at Copper Mountain.
As soon as the bus was on the
highway, students got out their
munchies and started porking down. A
couple of students brought Godfather’s
Pizza while many others began eating
their Little King sandwiches. Others
who weren’t quite so hungry nibbled
their potato chips, Fritos, Doritos, or
anything else they had stuffed in their
“Space Sacks.”
There was plenty of music with the
ride, too. Many people brought their
AM-FM cassette players and turned the
volumes all the way up.
One of the highlights of the ride was
a hijacking. Senior Linda Linse was the
hijacker, while senior Carla Palitano I
was the victim. Carla was blindfolded
with toilet paper and pushed toward
the front of the bus with a squirt gun
held by Linda. This event got everyone
on the bus laughing.
The bus arrived at Ten Mile Creek
Condominiums about 1:00 a.m. M.S.T.
By 7:30 a.m. Friday, the buses were
headed toward the mountain. The
conditions on the first day of skiing
were icy. Senior Lisa Wilson broke her
knee cap and senior Sheryl Kranz
twisted her knee.
At 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, the buses
headed for home. Students changed at
the lodge instead of at the
condominiums. People took one or
more dramamines and two or more
aspirins to prevent themselves from
getting sick. The ride seemed to go
fast and the buses pulled into the
parking lot around 3:00 a.m. The
students and faculty didn’t look
forward to being at school by 8:00
a.m., but the trip seemed to be worth
the loss of sleep.
Say “ c h e e se ” Ski club sponsor Jim McGrath takes a rest break Who done It? Senior Carla Palitano wonders who hijacked her
during a hard day of skiing. during the long trip out to Colorado. The guilty party: senior
Linda Linse.
