showed its real worth. In the next quarter an intercepted pass by Randall laid the groundwork for
another score. In the last quarter our players staged another well-planned drive that showed their
real teamwork possibilities. Trailing by two touchdowns, Thayer came to life and started to play real
football. As Thayer was about ready to score, Captain Lawson turned the tables by snatching a pass
out of the air that Sprague partially blocked and running the length of the field with it. Still fighting,
Thayer scored through the second team in the last few minutes.
The climax of the season was now past, and the team had lost a great deal of its energy when the
final game arrived. However, a few scattered moments of alert playing were enough to net three
touchdowns against Governor Dummer for the final victory of the season.
The real exhibition of power made in the season came in the Thayer game. The Black and
Orange team was the first one to score on us. Instead of losing heart or giving up at this, the players
showed their determination to win by giving the best exhibition of teamwork and real football that
has been seen on a Moses Brown gridiron in recent seasons. Although not always showing it, every
man was at all occasions full of fight and pep that could be relied upon, and Morgan's frequent 30-
or 40-yard runs, made possible by the wonderful blocking of the rest of the team, unfailingly dis
                  concerted the opposition.
Coach Freeman deserves worlds of credit for bringing the Blue and White team undefeated to
the close of an excellent season.
At recess a few days before the closing of school for the Thanksgiving holidays, Mr. Thomas
awarded letters to the following: Captain Tom Lawson, Sprague, A. Lawson, Blaney, Mayo. Ostrom,
Dye, McLaughry, Randall, Morgan, Gill, Todd, Mitchell, Thompson, Waughtel, Murdock, Fales,
Scott, Otis, Burns, Hanks, Lindholm, Colton (M gr.). At a meeting of these players a day or so later
Bob Ostrom was elected to captain the 1933 eleven.
On Tuesday evening, November 23, the annual football banquet was held in Alumni Hall. Mr.
Thomas, Mr. Waughtel, Mr. Martin, the "Observer” from the Providence Journal, Mr. Lawson,
Coach Freeman, and Captain Lawson all had words of praise for the team and its enviable record.
Captain Lawson presented the Coach a token of the team’s esteem. Directed by Mr. Newcomb, the
school Glee Club and Orchestra performed to conclude an enjoyable evening.
