required. If you don’t get that little sticker watch
out, a $10 fine comes your way.
When the 3:15 p.m. bell rings, everyone is eager
to escape out the doors for some leisure time. For
some this means sports. Athletics is an expensive
hobby, as athletes will tell you. You need good shoes,
and these can be a bit costly. Other equipment is
needed depending on your sport. The range for
athletic goods is $40 and for a soccer goalie who
needs to buy his own pads and gloves, $175 is spent.
Leisure time may also consist of going to a dance.
Admission prices vary from dance to dance, but
generally, you can get into a dance for between $3
and $15 per person. For dances such as Homecom
ing, Criss Cross, and Prom, more formal attire is
requested. Girls say the spend around $90 to over
$300. As for the guys, well they can’t escape without
renting a tux or buying a new outfit. The cost for
these is around $70-$120.
Being a high school student is costly. Just look at
the numbers. On the low end of the spectrum, going
to high school for four years costs around $8,190. On
the high end, the cost is around $13,679.
Sports are one of the activities
that raise the cost of being a
student. Seniors Gary Gra-
niewski, Jeff Bridwell and Mike
Moyers stand in line to check in
their football equipment.
