The Technology & Maintenance
Council (TMC) of the American
Trucking Associations has awarded its
highest honor — the Silver Spark Plug
Award — to Kenneth Calhoun, vice
president for customer relations, Truck
Centers of Arkansas in North Little
Rock, Ark.
Calhoun, a TMC member since
2002, was a founding member of
TMC’s Service Provider Committee
(SPC) and has been active in TMC’s
S.5 Fleet Maintenance Management
Study Group. He has chaired several
task forces, including the Counterfeit
Parts Task Force and the Fleet-Service
Provider Relationships Task Force, and
has helped organize several mini-tech-
nical sessions.

2012 SUPPLIEr of THE yEar
Rich Transport, Inc. of Little Rock,
Ark., was named one of 83 global sup-
pliers recognized by General Motors
(GM) Corporation at its recent Supplier
of the Year awards ceremony.
GM recognizes less than 1 percent
of its 18,500 suppliers around the world
to receive this award. Rich Transport’s
recognition was the highest award given
to a U.S. trucking company at this
year’s event. The winners are recognized
for delivering innovative technology,
superior quality, timely crisis manage-
ment and competitive, total-enterprise
cost solutions.

An Illinois truck driver was arrested
at a New Jersey Turnpike rest area while
he was attempting to peddle a 42,000-
lb. load of Muenster cheese stolen
from Wisconsin worth an estimated
$200,000.

