4.19. asobu
The verb asobu means ‘enjoys oneself.’ It is used for English
‘plays, has fun, goes on a pleasure trip, pays a (social) call,
visits (for pleasure),’ and other expressions. Here are some
examples:
Kyonen Hokkaidō ni asobi ni ikimahsita.
Last year I went to Hokkaidō.
Kodomo ga kōen de asonde imasu.
The children are playing at the park.
Konban asobi ni kimasen ka.
Won’t you come to visit (us) this evening?
