6.12. Counting birds
The usual counter for birds, any kinds of bird including
sparrows, cranes, ducks, and chickens, is -wa, which has the
forms -pa and -ba after certain numerals:
ichi-wa
ni-wa
san-ba, san-wa
yon-wa
go-wa
rop-pa, roku-wa
nana-wa, shichi-wa
hap-pa, hachi-wa
kyū-wa
jup-pa, jip-pa
nan-ba how many
