precious shots. Pete was heard to say about Teeth of the Dog: “I created eleven
holes and God created seven!” On Friday nights, the driving range offers night golf
as a fun event with glowing targets and golf balls that light up when hit.

When talking with Robert Birtel, director of golf operations, he mentioned that
Teeth of the Dog got its name from some of the workers who were on hole number
7 along the Caribbean. They said, “These rocks are sharp like the teeth of a dog,”
and the name stuck. Birtel added, “On the front nine, you can see the Atlantic
Ocean on eight of the nine holes with 5, 6, 7, and 8 adjacent to the sea, and on
the back nine, holes 15, 16, and 17 border the sea. Number five, the first par 3, is
absolutely breathtaking.” This little green sits out there on a small peninsula jutting
into the sea, and you’re like WOW, how can I even hit that green! Added to all this
beauty, you’ll find a very friendly course to play. What you see is what you get
with nothing tricky in front of you. You encounter the most fun around the greens,
where the golf course demands the best shots.

The Dye Fore Golf Course consists of three different nine hole courses. Marina and
Chavon are typically played as the front and back nines, with Lagos as the third.
Marina plays down river along the Chavon River with panoramic views of the
Caribbean, the marina, Catalina Island, and a lot of Casa de Campo. A hilly terrain
adds to a little visual stimulation during play over the entire course. The second
time around Dye Fore, you will have a better feel for where to “try” to hit the ball
scoring. The Chavon nine has even more undulation. It plays 300 feet above and
along the Chavon River; when the wind blows it can be very challenging. The front
nine of the Links Golf Course has forgiving fairways with slight elevation changes.
Several holes are really pleasing to the eye, especially numbers 3 and 6. The back
nine has five holes that negotiate their way around water with number 16 being the
signature hole.

All activities will make you hungry and the resort is well prepared to satisfy any
craving with more than 20 dining establishments from which to choose, such as
Lago that offers breakfast, lunch, and supper; La Caña and The Beach Club serve
lunch and supper; and the 19th Hole, overlooking the ninth hole on Teeth of the
Dog golf course, provides lunch. Save some time for a special visit to La Casita, an
