          Mission and Goals

              The mission of the BSW (Hons.) programme is to develop competent social work pro-
          fessionals  to  practise  in  a  wide  range  of  service  settings,  enabling  students  to  become
          generalist social workers. Our BSW (Hons) programme is designed to: (i) equip our students
          with a person-in-environment perspective, and using multi-level approaches in problem-solving;
          (ii) enhance their understanding of human diversity, and develop skills to address social needs
          of at-risk target groups; and (iii) inculcate the importance of continuous development of the
          professional self, upholding the objectives, values and ethics of the social work profession.

          Features
          1.   The Bachelor Social Work (BSW) (Hons.) programme is aimed at equipping students to
              become general practitioners in the social service sector.

          2.   The  programme  is  validated  by  the  Social  Workers  Registration  Board  and  students
              upon graduation will be eligible to apply for Registered Social Worker status.

          3.   The  programme  is  the  only  BSW  programme  in  Hong  Kong  offering  three  fieldwork
              placement in the 3rd and 4th year.

          4.   To ensure the integration of knowledge and practice, students will undertake an Honours
              Project in the 4th year to research on a chosen social theme.

          5.   The  BSW  programme  covers  a  wide  spectrum  of  professional  knowledge  and  skills
              related to supporting children, families, youth, elderly and the disabled.

          6.   New emerging social issues like working with hidden youth, changing roles and functions
              of families, children with special educational needs, new approaches in the rehabilitation
              and elderly services field and the use of social technology and social innovation are part
              of the BSW programme.
