                     Chapter 01

               Materials Needed:
                     Chapter 01
                     Mock Interview Rubric
                     Mock Interview Questions
                     Notebook

               Objectives:
                     Describe and explain the guidelines for interpersonal communication competence
                     Identify and discuss how communication differs in relationships
                     Demonstrate how to prepare for an interview: appearance and poise, skill presentation, and
                       delivery and language

               Time: 50 minutes for each lesson.

               Overview:
               The section of the unit plan will be broken up into three class periods. Students will be split up into
               groups of three. Group A will be the first group to interview. While group A is interviewing, groups B and
               C will use that time for reading and reflection questions. Group B will work on the Case Study on page 35
               and Group C will work on the Everyday Applications activities on page 36. The groups will rotate
               activities the following class periods.

               Students will be given the mock interview rubric and mock interview questions prior to their final
               interview to prepare. They will need to schedule a time during the class period to interview with the
               instructor. Interviews will take approximately 10 minutes each. Students will be graded on the point
               scale listed on the rubric. Students will be instructed to complete a one-page reflection on their
               interview experience.
