Management of DDS

 Mild DDS:  Severe DDS:

 Symptomatic treatment  Terminate dialysis session

 Reduce blood flow rate  Stabilize: ABCD

 Hypertonic solution  IV benzodiazepine for

seizure
(dextrose)  Consider mannitol,

 Terminate dialysis if hypertonic glucose or

symptom worsen hypertonic saline

 Workup alternative cause
