INTRODUCTORY REMARKS

                  This electronic study support has been created in the frame of project From the
                  Beginner to the Mentor (Supporting Strategies of Education of Teachers in Zlin
                  Region) financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of
                  the Czech Republic, from Fund of Educational Policy.

                  The  text  should  help  learners  acquire  basic  skills  necessary  for  professional
                  presentations. It is divided into 7 chapters, each of them dealing with a specific
                  area of knowledge and skills. Some parts of the text are vocabularies for specific
                  purposes (e.g. signposts, graph description). The text is completed with links to
                  publicly  available  Internet  sources,  which  will  contribute  to  more  complex
                  perception of the issue. The video sections are located on Youtube channel. In
                  brackets you´ll find the name of video and the time of duration. Youtube also
                  enables the viewer to get subtitles,               which might help those on a lower
                  level of English understand better.

                  The danger for Internet sources is that they can be removed from the address
                  given here. However, search engines will help you find what you´re looking for.

                  Each  chapter  starts  with  warm-up  and  motivating  questions,  and  also  the
                  estimated time for study is given (for language level B2).

                  The text is practically oriented, largely based on the author´s experience. The
                  structure follows study text Communication Skills for International Conferences,
                  written by Lengálová in 2008 and is adapted to the target group of teachers. It
                  doesn´t contain many references to literature, instead the literature studied is
                  given as bibliography.
