Verbal communication – sharing information by using speech (verbal
                  expressions).

Non-verbal communication – the process of communication through sending
and receiving wordless (mostly visual but not limited to) cues between people,
e.g. gestures, facial expressions, eye contact, voice modulation, pauses in
                  speech).

Now you are to recall some of your experience and goals in the area of
                  presentations. Answer these questions:
                     1. What experience (if any) you have with oral presentations (formal talks),
either in your mother tongue or in English?
                     2. How can you recognize if the presentation is good or poor? Do you have
                        some reasons, or only feelings?
                     3. Do you have a “model presenter” you would like to resemble?

Let´s have a closer look at presentations.

Presentation, as said before, is a way of communicating ideas and information
to a group of listeners - audience. A good presentation has:

Content - it contains information that the audience needs. Unlike written text, it
must take into account how much information the audience can absorb in one
                  sitting.
Structure - it has a logical beginning, main body, and end, and must be ordered
and presented in the speed enabling the audience to understand it.

Packaging - it must be well prepared. A report can be reread, but the audience
is at the mercy of the presenter. The listeners must be able to follow the ideas on
                  first listening.

Human element - a good presentation will be remembered more than a good
written text because it has a person attached to it, it gives the listener some
                  emotions.

All in all, a presentation is like a present in a box: First you must have the gift itself
(content), then you must order the parts of the gift in the box so that it doesn´t
break (structure), you´ll pack it in a nice wrapping paper (packaging) and finally
you´ll give it a name tag to make it personal (human element). As you can see,
there is some link between words “present” and “presentation” .
