POST CONFERENCE
Attendance and active participation in post conference is a required component of this clinical
course. Students will be expected to contribute to discussions and participate in activities during
this time. Post conference participation will be evaluated on an ongoing basis during this course.
ASSIGNMENTS
❖ Nursing Care Plans
o Two nursing care plans are assigned for this course
o Please use attached care plan template
o A “satisfactory” care plan includes
▪ 3 patient specific nursing diagnosis (one completed form per diagnosis)
▪ Subjective & objective assessment findings to support each diagnosis
▪ Nursing interventions with rationale
▪ Expected goals (one short term/one long term)
▪ Evaluations for each goal
o Submit to blackboard by due date noted in schedule
o If care plan does not meet stated criteria, students will be expected to make
corrections based on instructor feedback until a “satisfactory” rating is achieved.
❖ Reflective Journals
o Three reflective journals are assigned for this course
o A “satisfactory” journal entry includes:
▪ Thoughtful responses, insightful discussion
▪ Two references from current literature
▪ APA format, less than 3 grammatical errors
o Submit to blackboard by due date noted in schedule
o If journal does not meet stated criteria, students will be expected to make
corrections based on instructor feedback until a “satisfactory” rating is achieved.
❖ Bedside Handoff (oral examination)
o A verbal shift-shift handoff report will be given to instructor by each student at
the end of the clinical shift on 9/28/18.
o Students can expect the instructor to ask clarifiying questions throughout oral
exam.
o Not meant to be intimidating, rather an opportunity to practice handoff
communication skills and obtain feedback from instructor
o Able to use resources (daily patient sheet, computer, etc.)
o Completion of exam will give students a “satisfactory” rating for this assignment.
❖ Pediatric Medication Calculation Worksheet
o 20 questions on pediatric dosing and medication administration
o May use resources when completing worksheet
o Submit worksheet to instructor at clinical on stated due date
o Will be graded by instructor and returned for corrections
o Students must score 100% on worksheet for “satisfactory” rating
