What our
students say
I have always been interested in art,
especially portraiture.
I was a complete beginner and can now capture
exactly the images I want. I was challenged to
push my boundaries through development of
camera theory and practical skills and break out
of my comfort zone, while pursuing creative
direction. Whatever path you choose for your
project, you will be given one-to-one help and
advice and will be encouraged no matter what
subject matter you decide to explore.
Being able to learn from each other not only
provided a sense of community within the
classroom but encouraged us all to explore
aspects of photography we were previously
unfamiliar with - enabling us to learn and share
without feeling intimidated or embarrassed of
our current abilities.

The Highland Youth Arts Hub is supporting Sara
and 17 other emerging artists with an award of
£1,000 each, 12 hours of mentoring from a
professional artist and the opportunity to take
part in a series of Creative Conversations.
"The funding and mentoring offered through
this opportunity will help me in the development
and creation of my project – “From Inside”.
I aim to produce a mixed media interactive
installation that will prompt an open discussion
in my community surrounding changes (both
positive and negative) in mental health
over lockdown.”
