6.3 Events, Activities and Dinners (Report by RL)
- Tree planting project to proceed after current MCO is over.
- The Sub-Committee to finalise suitable site for tree planting with Majlis Bandaraya
Melaka Bandar Bersejarah (MBMBB) RL
- Location for Tree planting need further recce, probably Klebang area
- Budget estimated RM50,000.00 per year. RL to table a more detailed budget once
project is ready to take off.
- 5 tree types identified – Malacca Tree, Malacca Teak Tree (Merbau), Angsana, Rain RA
Tree and Flame of the Forest.
- RA coordinating with MBMB representative.

- John Koh, trustee of Malaysia Nature Society and also MAHSOPA member is planning a
proposed beautification working paper for the consideration of Melaka State. A
booklet to be published for this purpose.
- RL proposed that MAHSOPA be a party to this proposal, working with John Koh.
- MAHSOPA to sponsor the printing of 3 booklets (24 pages) which will cost about RL
RM100 each. Total cost RM300. The meeting approved the allocation.
- RL to present the draft to MAHSOPA committee for final review before it goes for
print.

- Proposed MAHSOPA Dinner will be on a smaller scale. Decision to be made pending
the current Covid-19 pandemic situation.

6.4 Communications & Constitution (Report by SK)
Communication:
- Thanks to the President, MAHSOPA FB is now public page. Dr Leo has been posting
regularly with relevant posts to generate interest.
- Posted 2 condolence messages: 1) Puan Salmah Kamardin– MHS Teacher who had
been the main link for Career Talks. 2) Tuan Hj Hussin Abu Bakar – former MHS AM/WL
Principal also husband to Puan Hjh Khadijah Hj Hassan, former MHS teacher who
attended many MAHSOPA dinners.

- Updated letterhead with Patron’s details for official correspondence. President / RL
Secretary to confirm with TYT’s Private Secretary whether there is any objection.

- Digitisation of MAHSOPA materials like documents and photos, etc using cloud
storage. Identified Degoo as the preferred cloud storage platform. RL to assist to
provide past dinner photos and dinner souvenir programme books.

Constitution:
- Copies of MAHSOPA Constitution and Tan Sri Abdullah Salleh Scholarship Fund Rules &
Regulation has been circulated via MAHSOPA Official WhatsApp Group for review and
comments.
- Committee Members to submit feedback and suggestions for amendments by June 14, AM / SK
2021.
-The President and SK will look into the suggested amendments for both and hope to
have the draft ready by July, 2021 and to be tabled at next Annual General Meeting for
approval.
