P. 215
Example 2
The term of a sequence is In = Sn + 7.
a) Find the first five terms of the sequence.
b) Find the difference between the 2"'' and the 5^^ terms of the sequence.
Solution
a) Ti=6x 1+7 = 6 + 7 = 13
12 = 6x2 + 7 = 12 + 7 = 19
13 = 6x3 + 7= 18+ 7 = 25
14 = 6x4 + 7 = 24 + 7 = 31
Is = 6x5 + 7 = 30+ 7 = 37
b) Difference between 2"^ and 5^^ terms = 15 -T2
= 37-19
= 18
