The Batang Lupar River in Sarawak is known for its benak or tidal bore. The tidal bore
is one of the largest in the world. It is a rare phenomenon that only happens to few
rivers. Many people come to see the huge waves.
The tidal bore is an amazing event that happens a couple of times a year. The tide
comes in from the river mouth and fills up the river really fast. The wave goes up from
two to four metres high. During the event, there will be other activities held such as
the longboat paddling competition, tidal bore surfing, and water sports. The Batang
Lupar tidal bore has become a major tourist attraction in Sarawak.
The pupils of 5 Bestari are making a poster on The Lupar Benak tidal
