Achievements

On Oct 3, 2019, the Philippine Dermatological Society inducted
46 Diplomates, 44 Fellows and 2 Life Members at the Makati Event:
Diamond Hotel. The event was a culmination of three years of Philippine Dermatological Society Induction Ceremony
perseverance and hard work for the inducted diplomates. For the
inducted fellows, this was dedication to the road less travelled, Date:
wrought with hardships but also one paved with a sense of joy October 3, 2019
and accomplishment.

The Membership Committee Chair, Dr. Christene Pearl Arandia,
formally opened the commitment ceremony. The Inspirational Welcome Remarks:
Speaker, Dr. John Francis Lee Hok then advised the Inductees Dr. Christene Pearl Arandia; Dr. Ma. Purita Paz-Lao
about strategic financial planning for the course of their careers.
He covered tips and tricks specifically for doctors to manage and Lecturers:
grow finances. Next, Dr. Katrina Carmela Belen explained how to Drs. John Francis Lee Hok, Katrina Carmela Belen,
become and remain a good member in standing, while Dr. Jaime Jaime Nunez and Roberta Romero
Nuñez explained the PDS code of ethics. He impressed upon the
audience the importance of being a professional, ethical PDS
Dermatologist. He highlighted professionalism as both a standard
and a beacon—a quality that sets a PDS Dermatologist apart from
all others.

The Induction Ceremony Proper began with the opening remarks
of the PDS President Dr. Peachy Paz-Lao who beamed with pride
as she addressed the new PDS Inductees. The next to give their
congratulatory remarks were the Vice-President of the Philippine
Medical Association Dr. Benito P. Atienza and to the Philippine
College of Physicians President Dr. Gina C. Nazareth.

Opening remarks by the PDS President Dr. Peachy Paz-Lao

The final inspirational speaker Dr. Roberta C. Romero was proudly
introduced by her mentee, Dr. Valerie Herbosa. Dr. Romero took
the audience through her personal journey in dermatology with
stories that were both touching and hilarious. At the beginning of
her career, like many of us, she had been unsure of the path that
lay before her. Throughout the course of her career there were The inductees
