Endangered Flora and Fauna : Farewell!
My parents, brother and I signed up with Amazing
Borneo Tours to sample a Wildlife and Fireflies Sunset
cruise on the Kawa Kawa River, the Little Kinabatangan.
Introduction From the jetty, we headed upriver in a small motorboat.
• A Wildlife and We stood, open-mouthed as we spied a family of “big-
Fireflies Sunset nosed” proboscis monkeys hanging out in a tree close to

River – upstream – the river with a large male sitting with its legs crossed
proboscis monkeys and pot-belly hanging out. Nicknamed in Indonesian as
“Orang Belanda” (Dutchman) the monkeys resembling
the Dutch colonists with their pot-bellies and big noses,
are really frighteningly human in their mannerisms.
