Step 3: Begin chest compressions

4 • If the victim is unconscious and not breathing, begin chest compressions immediately.
• Chest compressions will help the blood flow in the body of the victim.
• Kneel next to the victim, near the chest area.
- Place the heel of one hand on the centre of the victim’s chest.
- Keep both arms straight.
- Cover the first hand with your other hand and interlock your fingers.
- Lean over the victim.
- Ensure your shoulders are vertically above the victim’s chest.
- Press down 5-6 cm on the chest.
- Release the pressure while keeping your hands on the chest, let the chest come back up.
- Repeat chest compressions at 100-120 compressions per minute.
