An abandoned house at Jalan Anggerik 2/4, Taman Orkid, Shah Alam, has become
an eyesore to the residents of the area.
The house, which is situated at a corner lot, is overgrown with weeds and strewn
with rubbish. The house has been in this filthy condition for the past two years.
The Chairman of the Residents’ Association, Encik Rashid Abdullah, who
lives opposite the house, said that the house is a good hideout for drug addicts.
Coincidentally, the occurrences of petty thefts around the neighbourhood have also
been on the rise recently. His house has already been broken into twice and he says
that he fears for the safety of his family.
The house has also become home to stray dogs and cats which are a nuisance in
the area. Residents living nearby have to endure the stench emanating from the
house. A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said the windows are so dirty
that even if he stands close to them, he will not be able to see the inside of the house.
He urged the Shah Alam City Council to take action against the owner.
Shah Alam Councillor Puan Ana Razak said that the council would send a notice
to the house owner, ordering him to clear the rubbish within seven days.
‘If the owner fails to do so, the council will clean up the house and bill the owner
for the costs of the clean-up,’ she added.
