Twelve firemen in two fire engines from the Teluk Bahang Fire Station brought
the blaze under control by 7.00 p.m.

Teluk Bahang Fire and Rescue Department Chief Samsul bin Zakaria said a lack
of water supply had hampered the firemen’s efforts to extinguish the blaze. Firemen
were forced to utilise water from a nearby lake to supplement the water supply.

As a result, he said, the firemen took close to four hours to bring the raging flames
under control in the hilly area.

There were no reports of property damage in the area. Park officials were unable
to identify the cause of the fire. The officials declined further comment pending
investigations.
