                                           EN22209 Introduction to English Writing
               Mattayom 2  Semester 1                                            40 hours 1.0 credit

                       This course will be taught utilizing a dual type teaching approach. Firstly, the teacher will make full use of the
               course textbook. It will be insured that all students fully comprehend what is expected of them and their writing skills at this
               specific level. Secondly, through the use of handout books which were created by the teacher, additional writing techniques
               will be taught. This will include demonstrations of how to write short stories, poems and plays. The result of these teachings
               will broaden the scope and capabilities of each student.

                       In this level, Effective Academic Writing, Second Edition instills student confidence and provide tools necessary for
               successful academic writing by step-by-step Writing Process guides and refines writing skills. Timed writing practice prepares
               students for success on high-takes tests and online writing tutor improves academic writing inside and outside the classroom.
                       Effective Academic Writing, Second Edition delivers practice that will improve the students’ writing. The new

               introductory level provides students with the support and instruction they need for writing success on the lowest-level
               writing courses. More content-area related assignments with more academic vocabulary and readings prepare students for
               the challenges of the academic classroom.
                       Through individual work, pair work, group work, group discussion, searching information, presentation, and writing
               activities which develop critical thinking skills. In order to promote positive attitude towards learning English and build up

               desirable characteristics and learners’ key competencies
               Objectives

               At the end of this course, students will be able to:

                    1.  Specify and write various forms of non-text information related to sentences and texts heard or read.
                    2.  Speak and write to describe their own feelings and opinions about various matters, activities, experiences and

               news/incidents, as well as provide brief justifications appropriately.
                    3.  Speak and write to describe themselves, experiences/matters/various issues of interest to society.
                    4.  Speak/write  to  summarize  the  main  idea,  theme  and  topic  identified  from  analysis  of

               matters/news/incidents/situations of interest to society.
                    5.  Speak/write to express opinions about activities, experiences and incidents as well as provide brief justifications.

                    6.  Compare  and  explain  similarities  and  differences  between  pronunciation  of  various  kinds  of  sentences  in
               accordance with structures of sentences in foreign language and Thai language.
                    7.  Compare and explain similarities and difference between lifestyles and culture of native speakers and those of

               Thais and apply them appropriately.
                    8.  Search for, collect and summarize the data/facts related to other learning areas sources, and present them

               through speaking/writing.
                    9.  Use foreign languages in conducting research, collecting and summarizing knowledge/various data from the media
               and different learning sources for further education and livelihood.
