EN32203 Advanced English Composition Writing
Mattayom 5 Semester 1 80 hours 2.0 credit
In this course students learn effective communication through speaking, reading and
writing, identifying and implementing the elements of a paragraph and a composition. Students
will read, discuss, and write about different relative themes, producing writing that is focused
and organized. This course hinges on the communication skills, wherein the learners are
required to read passages, stories and other relevant articles in the book effectively. In terms of
speaking, the learner summarizes the gist and presents the information in various contexts or
situations, together with expressing feelings or opinions when appropriate. On the reading
level, the learner is required to use critical thinking to identify main ideas and relevant
supporting ideas; moreover, to infer, predict, justify and expand the given tasks, all of which
help the learner to be a more active reader. The other important skill is writing, which focuses
on writing effectively, wherein each learner is required to do a given task, write paragraphs, and
develop a variety of composition writings based on cause and effect, discursive/ argumentative,
analytical, summary and honest personal response.
Students learn through lectures, class discussions, presentations, pair & group work,
writing assignments, searching information, and other tasks and activities promoting critical
thinking and effective writing skills.
The course content promotes positive attitude towards learning English and builds up
desirable characteristics and learners’ key competencies. The students will have the proficiency
and confidence to use English in both the oral and written contexts. The students will have
acquired intercultural knowledge and awareness through research information as well as facts
that they will be using in their interactions.
Objectives
1. Explain and write sentences and texts related to various forms of non-text information as
specify and write various forms of non-text information related to sentences and texts heard or
read.
