methods developed here in the school is a project-
based learning, referred to as the “Big Book” project.
The project, not only use an array of colourful letters
to form simple words, but also initiate
communication and teamwork between parents and
children with special needs. The parent- children
team was tasked to create the “family tree”, using
simple words designated within the family, matching
pictures with correct words, calling out the family
names and using their own creativity to make the
tree. The “family tree” gives the child a personal
connection to the information they learn.
At the end of the day, students can practice writing
words or building them using cards. This newskill
will help maintain the interest of the students. This
fun and multi-purpose educational lesson extend
across many areas of learning.
