Pathophysiology
3. Increase in vascular damage (eg, trauma, neoplastic disease, inflammatory
process, infection, pulmonary infarction, drug hypersensitivity, uraemia,
pancreatitis)
4. Increase in capillary hydrostatic pressure in the systemic and/or pulmonary
circulation (eg, congestive heart failure, superior vena caval syndrome)
5. Reduction in pleural space pressure; lung failure to expand (eg, extensive
atelectasis, mesothelioma)
