Aetiology

Occurs from diseases of the lungs themselves or diseases of other organs

such as the heart, liver and kidneys.

• Tuberculosis (TB)

• Pneumonia

• lung cancer

• Pulmonary embolism or pulmonary infarction.

• Collagen (Collagen Disease) such as ‘Rheumathoid Arthritis’, SLE

• Heart failure

• Nephrotic syndrome (loss of protein from the kidneys)

• Liver Cirrhosis
