Indication Thoracentesis
1. Pleural effusion
• More content of the pleural cavity (either pus, air or blood) then causes a change in the
position of the lungs.
2. Lung cancer-for diagnosis
• The presence of cancerous tissue to lung tissue
3. Empyema
• The presence of pus in the pleural cavity due to diseases such as pulmonary tuberculosis.
