HOMEMADE CHICEKN AND DUMPLINGS


      From the Kitchen of Ashton Stowell's Great Grandma



      Ingredients:

       Chicken (breasts or your preferred choice)
       2 quarts of water
       1 cup Sour Milk (Milk with vinegar will also work in replace of sour milk)

       2 teaspoons baking powder
      ½ teaspoon baking soda
      ½ teaspoon salt

       1 tablespoon shortening
       Flour





      Directions:
      Mix milk, baking powder, baking soda, salt, shortening and enough flour to make a stiff dough

      together. Put out on wax paper and let sit for 1.5-2 hours.
      Cook your chicken and cut into serving pieces. Place chicken in a 4 qt pot, add 2 quarts water (water
      should cover the chicken) add salt and pepper to taste. Cook until tender.

       Roll out dough until about 1/8” thick. Cut into long strips, pull pieces off and drop in boiling chicken.
      Simmer 5-10 minutes.
