SERVING OUR FRONTLINE HEROES
W hen Sam Menheer ’21, heard stories of healthcare workers
battling the COVID-19 pandemic on the frontlines, he wanted
to do something to help. Utilizing a design created and shared by a
Boy Scout in Oregon, Sam went to work on his 3D printer, creating
and delivering more than 1,200 mask straps that would make
the essential PPE more comfortable and reduce skin irritation
for frontline workers. He delivered them to area hospitals, fire
stations and pharmacies.
“CATHOLIC MEMORIAL HAS GIVEN ME A SENSE OF
PURPOSE AND SHAPED MY DIRECTION, AS WELL
AS GIVING ME A SENSE OF COMMUNITY THAT I
HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE. I WOULD BE
LYING IF I SAID THERE WAS ANY BETTER FEELING
THAN THIS SERVICE.” – SAM MENHEER ’21
