food at every place we visit and learn how to cook the same from
the local restaurants and chefs. Then we go and buy the local spices
from these places and try to cook the dishes that we have really liked
when we get home. This way, I learn about people’s eating habits
across different cultures. Lastly, I try to learn the local language and
try to communicate with the natives when I am travelling. I pick up
key conversational words and then speak with them to express and
appreciate different languages. I can use key words like ‘Good Morning’,
‘Thank You’, ‘Sorry’, ‘Can I have this?’ in the languages of countries
wherever I have travelled so far. I love speaking these different
languages. To know and imbibe different cultures is indeed a hobby less
ordinary.

hotography is a hobby for all ages. It is amazing to capture
wonderful moments so that they can be cherished forever. I have
taken to photography since the time I won a camera in a quiz
Pcompetition at school. I love to take a look through my pictures
remembering the fun we had had on our many holidays. Some of the
beautiful pictures I have clicked are of the blazing sunset in Hampi, the
capital of the Vijayanagara Empire in Karnataka and a picture of the
Sydney Opera House in Australia. Memories captured in a photograph
I can provide a lifetime of joy indeed! Yukita Thangamma, P5 F
enjoy collecting coffee mugs from different places in the world.
They are souvenirs of destinations where either my family or I
have travelled. It really started as a hobby when I bought my
first collectible from Goa. After I returned from the trip, the mug
brought all the memories back whenever I saw it. So I thought that
it was a great idea to make a collection of memories in the form of
mugs. I feel very proud of my collection so far, it includes mugs from
places like Dubai, Alaska, Canada, Singapore, Lugarno, Goa, Kidzania
(Mumbai) and many more.

hile I enjoy doing many different activities in life, there
is one thing that I really love. I am a travel buff and I
really like learning new things and collecting native items
Wfrom each place that I visit. I have travelled to some
very interesting places in the world and have collected their coins. I
have currency notes and coins from Thailand, Malaysia, Dubai, Hong
Kong and Singapore. I always get some pocket money when I visit
these places. At the beginning of the trip, my parents give me some
local currency which I use to buy things over the counter during the
trip. At the end of the trip, I put the left over money in a collection
file when I get home. This way, I learn about international currencies
and their conversion rates. I have also picked up the native dresses
from some of these places. This way, I learn about how different
people dress differently across the world. We always enjoy eating local
