                                     (a) 'Abdul-Fattah ash-Shalabi discovered an old Qur'anic manuscript
                                        in which the scribe used two different spellings of JY (i.e. JY and 'N-)
                                        on the same page. 13
                                     (b) In the Raza Library Collection, Rampur, India, there is a Mushaf
                                        written in Kufic script attributed to 'All bin AbI Talib. The word
                                         ~ is again spelled as 'N-, and ~ is spelled as l:>-. I have provided
                                        a sample page below. 14

                                     Malik bin DInar reports that 'Ikrima would recite verse 17: 107 as las'al
                                   (JL;), though it is writtenfil (J-O). Malik reconciled this by saying that it
