BAHASA INGGERIS
After getting some money from our parents as a reward for our brilliant results in the PT3, my best friend and I decided
to go on a shopping spree at the nearest shopping mall. It was pretty crowded, as adults were stocking up for the coming
festive season, while many students like us were enjoying a nice break after school and the national examination.
While strolling from shoplot in search of bargains, we saw a little girl bawling her head off. We stopped and asked her
why she was crying. In between sobs, we found out that she was four years old, her name was Shirley and that she had
lost her parents in the crowd. “Don’t worry,Shirley. We’ll take you to the information counter where we’ll get an
announcement made so that your parents will know where you are,” we reassured her. When we went to the counter, we
found that the person-in-charge had gone for lunch but we were told that she would be back in 20 minutes. We waited
patiently, all the while playing games with Shirley and singing songs from Sesame Street to amuse her. She was having so
much fun with us that she forgot that she was lost.
As soon as the girl came back, we asked her to make a public announcement that Shirley, a four year old Chinese girl,
was waiting at the information counter for her parents. Could they please pick her up as soon as possible? Within three
minutes, a young couple came rushing to the counter. They were relieved to see their daughter again. What’s more, she
was obviously safe and sound, and enjoying our company. “Oh, thank you so much for taking such good care of Shirley!
We were frantic when we realised that she was not with us. Then, when we came to this counter, the girl was away for
lunch, so we decided to look for her, instead of waiting idly here. You can’t imagine how many times we’ve roamed the
mall in the past hour, hoping to see her,” Shirley’s mother, Mrs Chan said.
“Oh,it was nothing: we had a great time with Shirley,” Jashwin said while I nodded in agreement. “Well, all this running
around has made me pretty hungry,” Mr Chan said. “Why don’t you join us for lunch? I know Shirley will want both of you
to be with her a while longer.” “Thank you,” Jashwin and I chorused, suddenly feeling quite hungry. “That’s very nice of
you!” I added. So we were treated to a good lunch, before parting ways with the Chans.
