In 1971, Malay women set up Persatuan Kaum
Ibu Selangor (Kaum Ibu), in collaboration with
36 other organizations to form the core of
Malay UMNO Women
They also involved in the anti-Malayan Union
struggle caused men to rely on women to
make the number of demonstrations
Khatijah Sidek (leader of the Kaum Ibu) is a
larger female representative in UMNO and has
more women election candidates but because
of her firmness in promoting gender equality,
she was removed from UMNO. however, her
struggle shows a very strong spirit in fighting
for women's rights
