The NJYS Orchestral Camp is a great opportunity for young musicians in grades 4-9 to grow
musically. Campers hone their orchestral playing skills through various ensemble settings.
Featured ensembles include full orchestra, chamber music, choir, string orchestra, and wind
ensemble. Eligible students may elect to participate in our select instrument doubling program.
Camp also includes fun physical activities and a chance to make new friends! Entrance by
audition; audition is waived for students currently in an NJYS ensemble. Orchestral Camp takes
place at 570 Central Avenue in New Providence.
     Performance Ensembles:
     • Camp Orchestra – All campers perform alongside staff in a full orchestra
     • Chamber Orchestra – Intermediate to Advanced Strings
     • Cadet Orchestra – Advanced Beginners to Intermediate Strings
     • Wind Ensemble – Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion
     • Camp Choir – All campers develop musical and listening skills
     • Chamber Music – Campers rehearse daily in small ensembles and perform in a Chamber Music
                   concert on July 6.
Instrument Doubling Program: Eligible students may elect to participate in our instrument
doubling program on instruments such as double bass, viola, oboe, and bassoon.
Recreation: Recreational activities will be provided daily.
Lunch: Students are asked to bring their own lunch on days specified in the camp schedule
distributed at the parent meeting on June 24.
